Sam's Club: While Walmart may be the biggest physical retailer in the world, they weren't going to let membership-only clubs like Costco or BJ's Wholesale Club have all the fun, so the Walton family created Sam's Club to compete directly.
Like other warehouse-based membership stores, most items at Sam's Club's 800+ American, Mexican, Chinese, and Brazilian stores are sold in bulk quantities and directly off palates. Shoppers can select everything from small power tools to clothing to tires to jewelry to books to vacations to fresh and frozen foods.
There's been speculation that some Sam's Club physical stores will close to customers to become ecommerce fulfillment centers, to better compete with Amazon.
