Adidas: Headquartered in Germany, adidas is one of the largest sportswear companies in the world, and specializes in shoes, clothing, and accessories.
Founded by a set of German brothers in 1924, the company that preceded adidas first found fame after convincing American sprinter Jesse Owens to wear their then-groundbreaking spiked track shoes at the 1936 Summer Olympics.
In the late 1940s, a disagreement between the brothers led to the breakup of the former sports company with one brother forming what's now adidas, with the other launching Puma- another global powerhouse in the sporting goods apparel space.
While popular for their tracksuits and athletic apparel, it's the sneaker collection that defines adidas on a global scale. Some of adidas's most popular sneakers include the Yeezy Boost, Superstar, Samba, Gazelle, and Ultra Boost sneakers. adidas has also made the Slide Sandals popular with everyone from students to star athletes.
Today, Reebok is among the subsidiary companies of adidas.
